MORAL THEOLOGY

Advance Health Care Directives are highly encouraged by physicians, hospital and clinic administration, health care providers of all kinds as well as Catholic ehticists, religious sisters who practice medicine as well as priests and bishops. All of these people have a genuine concern for health and healing. It is for this reason that Advance Directives are carefully considered. One should not just settle for any directive, because not all are the same. The Minnesota Catholic Conference of bishops would like to warn you of the dangers a new paradigm in Advance Health Care Direcitves called Provider Orders for Life Stustaining Treatment (POLST). Please watch this brief video explaining POLST and ask your priest for more information before completing any health care directive.
